Spoon Bread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 c. corn meal
2 1/2 c. boiling water
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 Tbsp. sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
2 egg yolks
1 3/4 c. milk
3 Tbsp. melted shortening
2 egg whites
Preparation

Add boiling water slowly to corn meal, stirring constantly. Let stand until cool.
Mix salt, sugar and baking powder with beaten egg yolks.
Add milk.
Add milk mixture to cooled corn meal.
Beat vigorously.
Add melted shortening.
Fold in beaten egg whites.
Bake in well-greased deep baking dish or pan at 400\u00b0 for about 40 minutes.
Serve by spoonfuls from baking dish.
Eat warm with butter.
