Date Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 c. sugar
    4 Tbsp. shortening
    6 c. flour (plain)
    4 tsp. soda
    1 1/2 lb. dates, chopped fine
    1 1/2 c. nuts
    4 c. boiling water
    2 eggs
Preparation
    Pour boiling water over dates and soda.
    Combine sugar, shortening and eggs.
    Add to date mixture.
    Add flour and nuts. Bake for 1 1/2 hours at 300\u00b0.
    Makes about 4 to 5 loaves.
