Spoon Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. corn meal
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    2 eggs
    1 tsp. baking soda
    2 1/2 c. boiling water
    2 Tbsp. melted shortening
    1 1/2 c. buttermilk
Preparation
    Add corn meal gradually to boiling water, stirring constantly. Let cool.
    Add shortening, salt, egg yolks, milk and baking soda. Beat about 2 minutes and fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
    Pour into well oiled baking dish and bake in hot oven (435\u00b0) for about 40 minutes.
    This is a delicious dish.
    I could make a meal out of this by itself.
