Onion Bread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

3/4 c milk
2 pkg. dry yeast
1 pkg. onion soup mix
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. margarine
1/2 c. warm water
1 egg, beaten
4 c. unsifted white flour
Preparation

Scald milk.
Stir in soup mix.
Blend well. Stir in sugar and margarine.
Mix until margarine melts.
Cool to lukewarm. Sprinkle yeast over warm water.
When dissolved, add yeast mixture, egg and 2 cups flour to the lukewarm milk mixture.
Beat until smooth.
Add remaining flour to make a stiff batter.
Cover tightly and chill at least 2 hours.
Cut dough in half.
Flatten and press into 2 well-greased 9-inch round pans.
Brush with melted margarine.
Cover and let rise in warm place until doubled in size, about 45 minutes.
Bake at 375\u00b0 for about 35 minutes. Remove from pans and cool on racks.
Brush again with melted margarine while still hot.
