Fruit Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients

3/4 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar
2 Tbsp. milk
1 large egg, beaten
1 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 1/2 tsp. soda
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 c. nutmeats, chopped
1/2 c. chopped dates

Preparation

Cream shortening and sugar.
Add milk and flour sifted with soda, baking powder and spices.
Add dates and nuts.
Drop by spoonfuls onto greased baking sheet in 375\u00b0 oven.
At Christmas, decorate with candied cherry and colored sugar before baking.
