Ingredients

4 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cloves
1/2 c. butter or margarine
1 c. light molasses
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ginger
1 c. sugar
1 c. mashed pumpkin
Preparation

Onto waxed paper, sift together flour, salt, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves and ginger.
In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Blend in molasses and pumpkin. Blend in flour mixture.
Divide the dough into 4 equal parts; refrigerate, wrapped in wax paper, at least 30 minutes.
