Ingredients

1 1/2 c. white sugar
1 c. Crisco
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
5 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
Preparation

Mix together thoroughly the sugar, Crisco, salt and nutmeg. Add the milk and vanilla.
Mix thoroughly. Next, add 1 cup sifted flour to which baking powder and soda have been added. Beat thoroughly making a soft dough. Now add gradually 4 more cups sifted flour, beating well after addition.
Roll out on floured board and cut into desired shapes.
Bake in a 400\u00b0 oven. Bake small cookies 6 minutes and large cookies 8 minutes. Frost and decorate as desired.
