Ingredients

1 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. baking soda
2 c. flour
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

Mix butter, sugar, egg and soda and let stand 10 minutes.
Mix flour, cream of tartar and vanilla with other ingredients.
Drop on ungreased cookie sheet.
Dip bottom of glass in sugar and press cookie flat.
Bake for 10 to 12 minutes in 350\u00b0 oven.
Makes about 5 dozen cookies.
