Burnt Sugar Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. boiling water
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    2/3 c. butter
    2 eggs (save whites)
    1 c. cool water
    3 c. flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Melt and
    brown
    1/2
    cup
    sugar, in an iron skillet on medium-high heat, stirring often, until it gets black looking, with lid on skillet.
    Slightly lift lid and add boiling water. Stir and take off stove and let cool.
