Apple Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    1/2 c. shortening
    2 eggs
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2 c. self-rising flour
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1/2 tsp. nutmeg
    2 c. chopped apple, peeled
    1/2 c. chopped nuts
    1 Tbsp. sugar
    1/4 tsp. cinnamon
Preparation
    Heat oven to 350\u00b0.
    Grease and flour loaf pan, 9 x 5 x 3-inches.
    Mix 1 cup sugar, shortening, eggs and vanilla.
    Stir in flour until smooth.
    Stir in apples and nuts.
    Spread in pan.
    Mix 1 tablespoon sugar and cinnamon.
    Sprinkle over batter.
    Bake until toothpick in center comes out clean, 50 or 60 minutes. Remove from pan immediately.
    Cool completely before slicing. Store tightly covered.
