Aunt Peggy'S Irish Soda Bread - cooking recipe

2 c. all-purpose flour
1/4 c. sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
3 Tbsp. margarine, softened
1 c. buttermilk
1 egg
raisins as desired
1 Tbsp. margarine, melted (set aside)
Preparation

Preheat oven to 375\u00b0.
Lightly grease cookie sheet.
In a large bowl, sift dry ingredients.
Add raisins.
Mix egg, buttermilk and margarine together.
Combine with flour mixture. Knead lightly on a floured board.
Shape into a ball.
Place on a cookie sheet; flatten into a 7-inch circle.
Bake 30 to 40 minutes or until top is golden and loaf sounds hollow.
Brush top with melted margarine.
