Cheese-Onion Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. chopped onions
    1 Tbsp. shortening
    1 egg, slightly beaten
    1/2 c. milk
    1 1/2 c. Bisquick
    1 c. grated sharp Cheddar cheese
    1 Tbsp. poppy seed
    2 Tbsp. melted butter
Preparation
    Saute onions in shortening until soft, but not brown. Mix egg and milk. Blend in Bisquick. Add sauteed onion and 1/2 cup of the grated cheese. Blend thoroughly. Spread dough in a greased baking dish (6 x 8-inch or 8-inch square). Sprinkle remaining 1/2 cup cheese and poppy seed over top. Drizzle melted butter over all. Bake at 400\u00b0 for 20 to 25 minutes. Cut in squares to serve. Serves 6 to 8.
