Ingredients

1 lb. butter (no substitutes)
2 c. sugar
4 eggs, separated
4 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. vanilla
2 c. pecans, chopped fine
strawberry jam
Preparation

Cream butter and sugar, add egg yolks, flour and vanilla; mix well.
Roll into balls the size of walnuts.
Dip each ball into egg whites, then into finely chopped nuts.
Put indentation in ball with your thumb.
Place on an ungreased cookie sheet in 350\u00b0 oven for 5 minutes.
Remove and put bit of jam in center of each cookie and continue baking until brown, about 10 more minutes. Makes 84 cookies.
