Ingredients
-
1 c. flour
2 Tbsp. cornstarch
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. vegetable oil
1/2 egg white
1 Tbsp. of water
1/2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
-
Take time out to write or type up some fortunes on 1/2 inch X 2 inch strips of paper.
Sift together flour, cornstarch, sugar and salt.
Add oil and egg white.
Beat until smooth.
Beat in water and vanilla.
Drop batter by level teaspoons onto a well greased baking sheet.
Smooth out with back of oiled spoon to make 4 inch circles.
Bake at 300 degrees until light golden brown.
If underbaked, the cookies will tear.
Cookies will be extremely hot. Use gloved hands, if possible.
Immediately, after you take out of oven, place a fortune in the bottom half of the cookie.
Take a wide spatula and take top half of cookie and fold over to make a 1/2 circle.
Lift cookie up and take both sides and bend toward the middle.
Place upside down, with points in the bottom, in an empty muffin pan and let cool.
