Boston Brown Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. raisins
    3 c. water
    2 c. sugar
    4 Tbsp. shortening
    2 eggs
    5 1/2 c. flour
    3 tsp. baking soda
    1 tsp. salt
    2 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. chopped nuts (if preferred)
Preparation
    Boil raisins and water 5 minutes.
    Cool.
    Cream sugar and shortening; add eggs.
    Add remaining ingredients and raisin mixture.
    Grease seven No. 2 tin cans.
    Fill half full.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 1 hour.
    Cool a few minutes on rack, then remove from cans.
