Grandma Yeo'S Date Nut Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3/4 c. chopped walnuts
    1 c. cut up dates
    1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
    3 Tbsp. butter or oleo
    2 eggs
    1 c. granulated sugar
    1/2 tsp. salt
    3/4 c. boiling water
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 1/2 c. sifted flour
Preparation
    Place walnuts, dates, soda and salt in bowl.
    Mix lightly with fork.
    Add butter and pour in boiling water.
    Let stand 20 minutes.
    Beat egg with fork.
    Add vanilla, then add sugar and flour, beating well with fork.
    Combine date and flour mixture. Mix just until blended.
    Bake in greased 9 x 5 x 3-inch pan in 350\u00b0 oven for 1 hour and 15 minutes or until done.
