Ingredients

1/2 c. butter, softened
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. confectioners sugar
1 1/2 tsp. almond extract
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. red food coloring
Preparation

Mix all ingredients; divide dough in half.
Add food coloring to 1/2 of mixture.
Break into small pieces; roll out to form candy canes.
Twist the two colors together to form canes.
Brush with beaten egg white; sprinkle with crushed peppermint stick. Bake in a 375\u00b0 oven for approximately 9 minutes.
