Ingredients

2/3 c. honey
1 c. brown sugar
2 Tbsp. water
2 Tbsp. butter
3 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. candied orange peel
1/2 tsp. each: baking soda, salt, ginger and nutmeg
1 c. slivered, blanched almonds
1 Tbsp. grated orange peel
Preparation

Mix honey, brown sugar and water in pan.
Add butter and boil. Cool.
Mix flour, baking soda, salt and spices in bowl.
Stir in almonds, candied and grated orange peel, then honey mixture until well blended.
Divide dough in half.
Roll half of dough on floured surface to a 12 x 9-inch rectangle.
Make 4 lengthwise and 9 crosswise cuts.
Place cut rectangles 1/2 inch apart on greased cookie sheets.
Bake at 400\u00b0 for 10 minutes, until pale brown. Remove to cool.
Brush glaze on tops of cookies.
Decorate with almonds and halved candied cherries.
Let stand 1 hour until glaze sets.
