Lemon Bread (A Tea Bread) - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/2 lb. shortening (1/2 c.)
1 c. sugar
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1 1/4 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. salt
1/2 c. milk
1/2 c. nuts, chopped fine
grated peel of 1 lemon
Preparation

Cream together the shortening and sugar; mix the eggs in the mixture. Sift together the flour, baking powder and salt; set aside on wax paper. Add the sifted dry ingredients alternately with the milk and mix completely; mix in the nuts and lemon peel. Blend well. Place the mixture in a buttered bread pan and bake at 350\u00b0 for about 1 hour. After baking, mix juice of 1 lemon mixture over the top.
Let stand a few minutes, remove from pan and cool. Slice when cool and serve.
