Plantation Spoon Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 c. milk
    1 c. corn meal (white or yellow)
    2 Tbsp. butter
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. sugar
    1 tsp. baking powder
    4 eggs, well beaten
Preparation
    Scald milk in top of double boiler.
    Gradually stir in corn meal and cook until thickened.
    Add butter, salt, sugar and baking powder.
    Add hot mixture slowly to eggs, stirring constantly. Pour into greased 2-quart casserole.
    Bake in hot oven for 45 minutes.
    Serve at once; can be served with butter or gravy.
