Fried Green Tomatoes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    5 tomatoes, sliced
    1 c. cornmeal
    1/2 c. vegetable oil
    salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
    Wash and dry each tomato slice.
    Sprinkle cornmeal on a piece of wax paper or large flat surface.
    Dip each slice in cornmeal; pat gently until cornmeal covers surface.
    Turn over and repeat. Heat vegetable oil in large frying pan over medium heat.
    Add tomato slices; fry 2 to 3 minutes on each side until golden brown. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
    Serve hot.
    Makes 4 servings.
