Orange Nut Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    juice from 1 orange
    orange rind, chopped
    1 c. chopped dates
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1 c. sugar
    2 Tbsp. shortening
    1 egg, beaten
    2 c. pastry flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. chopped nuts
Preparation
    Add boiling water to orange juice to make 1 cup.
    Combine rind and dates in a mixing bowl.
    Stir in soda, sugar and shortening. Add egg; sift flour with baking powder and salt.
    Add to wet mixture.
    Beat well.
    Add nuts.
    Bake 50 minutes at 350\u00b0.
