Ingredients

1/2 c. butter
1 c. light brown sugar, packed
1 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
3/4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt (optional)
1/2 c. finely chopped nuts
Preparation

Cream the butter; add sugar, vanilla and egg.
Beat until light.
Add dry ingredients and nuts.
Drop by teaspoon (approximately size of hickory nuts) onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake in hot oven (400\u00b0) for approximately 5 minutes.
(Do not overbake.)
Cool on cookie sheet 1 to 2 minutes. Remove to wire rack.
