Ingredients

3 eggs
1 c. shortening
2 c. white sugar
1 c. buttermilk (1 Tbsp. vinegar to 1 c. milk)
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
4 c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

Sift flour, baking soda and baking powder; set aside.
Cream shortening and add sugar.
Add eggs, one at a time.
Stir in buttermilk and add flour mixture, 1 cup at a time.
Mix well. Drop by spoonful onto ungreased cookie sheet and bake until golden brown.
These will be soft.
