Ingredients

1/2 c. shortening
1 c. white sugar
2 eggs
2 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
2 c. oatmeal
2 c. flaked coconut or chopped nuts, raisins, chocolate or butterscotch chips (or any combination to total 2 c.)
1 c. Rice Krispies or Wheaties
1/2 c. butter
1 c. brown sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
Preparation

Cream shortening, butter and both sugars until light and fluffy.
Beat in eggs and vanilla.
Stir together the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt in a bowl, then beat into the creamed mixture.
Stir in oatmeal, coconut and cereal.
Drop by heaping teaspoonfuls on cookie sheets, leaving 2-inches between cookies. Bake at 375\u00b0 for 10 to 12 minutes, until browned as preferred.
Let the cookies cool 1 minute on the sheets before removing to racks to cool.
Makes about 6 dozen.
