Congo Squares(Bar Cookies) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2/3 c. shortening
    2 1/4 c. brown sugar
    3 eggs
    1 Tbsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2 3/4 c. flour
    1 c. nuts (optional)
    2 c. chocolate chips
Preparation
    Melt shortening in large pot.
    Remove from burner.
    Add brown sugar
    and
    stir
    until
    shortening melts.
    Add eggs and mix.
    Add baking
    powder and salt and mix.
    Add flour and mix. Add nuts and chocolate chips and mix.
    Spread on greased 10 x 15 x 1-inch jellyroll pan.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 20 to 25 minutes. Cut into 2-inch squares when cool.
