Molasses Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. sugar
    1 c. molasses
    1/2 c. butter or other shortening
    1 tsp. salt
    2/3 c. cold water (for soft cookies) or boiling water (for crisp)
    2 rounded tsp. soda
    sufficient flour to roll
    1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. ginger
    1/2 tsp. cloves
Preparation
    Mix sugar, molasses and shortening.
    Add water and 2 cups flour, mixed and sifted with soda, salt and spices.
    Add enough additional flour to roll.
    Cut and bake in moderate oven (325\u00b0 to 350\u00b0).
