Southern Spoon Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 cups boiling water
    1 c white corn meal
    1 tsp salt
    1 T shortening
    1 c milk
    2 eggs, separated
Preparation
    Mix water, corn meal, salt and shortening.
    Cool.
    Add milk and beaten egg yolks; mix well.
    Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
    Pour into greased baking dish and bake in hot oven (400\u00b0) for 30 to 40 minutes.
    Serve from dish.
    Serves 6 to 8.
