Ingredients

1 c. shortening
2 c. flour
4 tsp. vinegar
2 tsp. ginger
3 c. flour
2 c. molasses
4 tsp. soda
4 eggs
Preparation

Heat shortening and molasses to boiling point.
Take from heat and stir in 2 cups flour while hot.
Let cool.
Add soda, dissolved in vinegar.
Beat eggs and ginger together.
Knead with about 3 cups flour to roll out nicely.
If the dough is chilled somewhat it will not require as much flour to roll out and cookies will be softer.
