Ingredients

1 c. pulp from persimmons
1 tsp. baking soda
3/4 c. sugar
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
2/3 c. melted shortening
2 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 egg
1 c. chopped nuts
Preparation

Put soda in the cup of pulp and let dissolve for 30 minutes. Meanwhile, cream together sugars and shortening.
Sift together flour, cloves, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg. Add egg to creamed mixture. Beat well. Add pulp alternately with sifted ingredients, then add 1 cup nuts. Mix well and drop by rounded teaspoons onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350\u00b0 for 10 to 15 minutes.
