Granny'S Banana Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    1/2 c. shortening
    2 eggs
    1 tsp. vanilla
    3 to 5 bananas, mashed
    2 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 c. chopped nuts (optional)
Preparation
    In large bowl cream sugar and shortening.
    Add eggs and vanilla; beat until fluffy.
    Add bananas.
    In small bowl, combine flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt.
    Add to banana mixture. Stir in nuts.
    Pour into a greased 9 x 5-inch loaf pan (for smaller loaves use 2 pans).
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 45 minutes.
    Cool in pan 10 minutes, then on rack.
    Cool thoroughly.
    Serve plain, with cream cheese or butter.
