Garlic Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 cloves garlic
    1/2 tsp. salt
    freshly ground black pepper
    1/2 lb. (1 stick) butter
    1 tsp. chopped, dried thyme and basil
    1 tsp. chopped parsley
    1 loaf French bread
Preparation
    Crush the garlic with the salt to a smooth paste and put in a bowl with the pepper, butter and herbs; cream well.
    Cut the loaf along in 1-inch slices to within 1/2 inch of the bottom.
    Spread the slices on each side with the garlic butter and press together again.
    Wrap in foil.
