Banana Cranberry Bread - cooking recipe

2 2/3 c. sugar
1 pkg. cranberries
1/3 c. shortening
2 eggs
1 1/3 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. chopped walnuts
1 c. mashed banana
Preparation

Mix 2 cups sugar and 2 cups water in pan; cook 5 minutes and add cranberries.
Cook 5 minutes longer.
Cool and drain.
Cream shortening with remaining sugar.
Add eggs 1 at a time, beating well after each addition.
Sift dry ingredients together; add walnuts.
Add to creamed mixture alternately with bananas, beating well.
Fold in 1 cup cranberries.
Pour into greased loaf pan. Bake at 350\u00b0 for 1 hour.
