Ingredients

1/2 c. plus 1 Tbsp. butter, softened
2/3 c. plus 2 Tbsp. sugar
1 egg, separated
1/4 c. milk
1 1/4 tsp. vanilla extract
1 c. flour
1/4 c. cocoa
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. finely chopped nuts
1/2 c. confectioners sugar
candied cherries (optional)
walnut or pecan halves (optional)
milk chocolate kisses (optional)
Preparation

Cream 1/2 cup butter, 2/3 cup sugar, egg yolk, 2 tablespoons milk and 1 teaspoon vanilla in bowl until light and fluffy.
Add mixture of flour, cocoa and salt; blend well.
Chill for 1 hour. Shape into 1-inch balls.
Dip into beaten egg white.
Coat with mixture of chopped nuts and 2 tablespoons sugar.
Place on lightly greased cookie sheet.
Make indentation in center of each.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 10 minutes, or until set.
