Ingredients

1 lb. butter
3 c. brown sugar
4 Tbsp. buttermilk
4 eggs, well beaten
2 tsp. baking soda
6 c. all-purpose flour
1 lb. light raisins
1 lb. candied cherries
1 lb. candied pineapple
8 c. chopped nuts
1 tsp. spice
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. mace
1 tsp. cinnamon
Preparation

Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add buttermilk and eggs.
Sift soda with 1/2 of flour and blend in.
Add all spices.
Add remaining flour to fruit and nuts and blend in.
Drop by heaping teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheets.
Bake at 300\u00b0 for 14 minutes.
Remove to wire racks to cool.
