Date Nut Bread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 c. chopped dates
1 tsp. baking soda
1 Tbsp. butter
1/2 tsp. salt
1 egg
1 c. boiling water
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. chopped pecans
1 1/2 c. bread flour, sifted twice
1/2 tsp. baking powder
Preparation

Sprinkle soda over dates; add boiling water.
Let stand until cool.
Beat egg with salt, sugar, butter, nuts and vanilla; then mix well with the dates and water.
To the flour, add baking powder and sift together.
Add to first mixture and blend thoroughly.
Turn batter into a generously greased loaf pan, and bake in a moderate oven as directed.
Time:
50 to 55 minutes in 350\u00b0 oven.
