Ingredients

2 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. ginger
2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c.molasses
1/2 c. margarine
1 egg, beaten
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 Tbsp. water
1 Tbsp. vinegar
Preparation

Sift together flour and spices; set aside.
Cream together sugar and margarine; add molasses and egg.
In a small bowl, mix baking soda, water and vinegar.
Alternate adding flour and liquid to creamed mixture.
Chill dough and form balls; roll in additional sugar.
Bake on greased sheets at 350\u00b0 for 12 to 15 minutes.
Makes 3 dozen.
