Ingredients

1 c. melted shortening
1 c. sugar
1 c. molasses
1 tsp. cinnamon
about 4 to 4 1/2 c. flour
1 c. buttermilk
2 rounded tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. ginger
Preparation

Stir all ingredients together, adding flour to make a soft dough.
Let stand overnight in refrigerator.
Divide dough into 1/4 sections.
Roll out a square about 3/8-inch thick.
Sprinkle with sugar.
Cut into squares (about 12).
Bake on greased cookie sheet at 350\u00b0.
