Ingredients

1 c. butter (soft)
1 c. white sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar
Preparation

Cream butter and sugar together; add egg and vanilla and blend thoroughly. Combine dry ingredients and add to butter mixture. Using spoon, scoop small balls of dough and dip tops into sugar before placing on baking sheets. Will flatten by itself. Bake at 350\u00b0 for 8 minutes.
