Fresh Apple Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    2 eggs, beaten
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 to 1 c. pecans
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    2 c. flour
    1/2 c. shortening
    1 c. grated apple
    1 tsp. soda
    1 1/2 Tbsp. buttermilk
    1 tsp. cinnamon
Preparation
    Cream sugar and shortening, adding eggs and apple.
    Mix in sifted dry ingredients to which pecans have been added.
    Stir in buttermilk and vanilla.
    Pour into greased loaf pan.
    Sprinkle top with a mixture of sugar.
    Bake 1 hour in preheated 350\u00b0 oven. Yields 1 loaf.
