Date Nut Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. chopped dates
    1 c. boiling water (over dates, let stand while mixing)
    1 c. sugar
    1 Tbsp. shortening
    1 egg
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 1/4 c. flour
    1 tsp. soda
    1/2 c. chopped nuts
Preparation
    Cream thoroughly the sugar, shortening, egg and vanilla.
    Add date mixture, stir and mix, then add flour, soda and nuts.
    Bake in loaf pan at 350\u00b0 for 45 minutes.
