Ingredients

1 c. sugar
3/4 c. shortening
1/4 c. molasses
1 egg
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1 1/2 tsp. ginger
Preparation

Cream sugar and shortening.
Add molasses.
Beat well.
Add egg; beat.
Add flour, baking soda, salt and spices; mix well. Roll in balls; dip in sugar.
Flatten balls with a tumbler.
Bake at 375\u00b0 for approximately 10 minutes.
