Cranberry Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 (4) c. flour, unsifted
    1 (2) c. sugar
    1 1/2 (3) tsp. baking powder
    1/2 (1) tsp. soda
    1 (2) tsp. salt
    2 (4) Tbsp. shortening and enough boiling water to make 3/4 c. (1 1/2 c.)
    1 (2) egg(s), well beaten
    1 (2) c. chopped pecans
    1 (2) c. raw cranberries, halved
    juice and grated rind of 1 (2) orange(s)
Preparation
    Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder, soda and salt.
    Mix juice and grated rind, shortening, water and egg.
    Blend liquid into dry ingredients until flour is dampened.
    Add nuts and cranberries.
    Pour into greased loaf pan.
    Push into corners and leave center hollow.
    Let stand 20 minutes before baking.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 60 to 70 minutes.
    Cool thoroughly before slicing.
