Shortbread Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    8 oz. (2 sticks) cold, hard butter, cut in chunks
    1/2 c. sugar
    2 c. flour
    pinch of salt
Preparation
    In the bowl of an electric mixer, place butter and sugar.
    Mix on low speed for 15 seconds.
    Add flour and salt; continue mixing on low speed for 3 to 5 minutes, until the dough comes together. It will look dry just before it comes together.
    Place the dough on a lightly floured board; roll 1/4-inch thick.
    Cut out dough with a 3-inch star cutter or other desired shape.
    Place on cookie sheets 1/2-inch apart.
    Chill for 1 hour in the refrigerator or 1/2 hour in the freezer.
