Sugar Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 cup butter, softened
    3 1/2 cups flour
    1/2 cup Crisco shortening
    2 teaspoons cream of tartar
    1 cup sugar
    1 teaspoon baking soda
    3 eggs
    1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
Preparation
    Cream butter and shortening.
    Gradually add sugar, beating until light and fluffy.
    Add eggs 1 at a time, beating well after each addition.
    Combine flour, cream of tartar and soda; add to creamed mixture, beating well.
    Stir in vanilla.
    Chill dough 2 hours.
    Work with half of dough at a time.
    Store remainder in refrigerator.
    Roll dough on lightly floured board to 1/4 inch thick.
    Cut with cookie cutters.
    Place on ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 425 degrees for 6 - 8 minutes or until lightly browned. Frost with decorator frosting.
    Makes about 5 1/2 dozen cookies.
