Ingredients

2 1/4 c. unbleached flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. (1 stick) softened butter
1/4 c. packed light brown sugar
1 egg
1 Tbsp. vanilla
Preparation

Combine flour, baking powder and salt on waxed paper or in small bowl.
Beat butter and sugar in large bowl until very light and creamy and beat in egg and vanilla.
Gradually beat in flour until combined (by hand or mixer).
Chill in balls (divide in half) for 2 to 3 hours.
