Mom'S Ginger Cream Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. shortening
    1/2 c. sugar
    1 egg
    1/2 c. molasses
    1 tsp. ginger
    1/2 tsp. each: nutmeg, cinnamon and cloves
    1/2 c. hot water
    1 tsp. soda
    2 c. flour
Preparation
    Cream together shortening, sugar and egg.
    Dissolve soda in hot water.
    Add to shortening mixture along with 1/2 cup molasses. Sift together flour and spices and add to mixture.
    Chill dough. Drop by spoonful 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheet.
    Bake 8 to 10 minutes at 375\u00b0.
    Glaze with 10x sugar and milk, if desired.
