Ingredients

1 c. sugar
3/4 c. shortening
1 egg
4 Tbsp. molasses
salt
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ginger
2 tsp. soda
2 1/2 c. flour
Preparation

Cream sugar and shortening.
Add egg and molasses and then add all other dry ingredients.
Chill overnight, or at least a couple of hours.
Make into balls.
Dip one side into sugar and press out with a fork on a cookie sheet.
Bake 8 to 10 minutes at 400\u00b0.
