Ingredients

2 Tbsp. butter
1 c. flour
2 Tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 egg, well beaten
vegetable oil (for frying)
Preparation

Rub the butter into the flour.
Add the sugar and nutmeg; mix well.
Mix in the beaten egg, forming a stiff dough.
Knead until smooth.
Roll out on a floured board about 1/4-inch thick.
Cut crisscross fashion, forming small diamond shapes.
Heat oil to 350\u00b0 to 375\u00b0.
Fry the dough until it browns evenly.
Drain on paper towels.
