Ingredients

1 c. unsalted butter
1 c. sugar
2 large eggs
2 tsp. grated lemon peel
1 tsp. vanilla
3 c. all-purpose flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
egg yolks
candy sprinkles
food color
Preparation

In bowl, beat sugar and butter until fluffy.
Mix in eggs, lemon peel and vanilla.
Mix in flour, baking powder and salt. Form into 4 disks, wrap and chill 2 hours.
Preheat oven to 350\u00b0. Roll dough 3/16 of an inch thick on floured surface.
Cut with cookie cutter; place on baking sheet.
In as many cups as colors used, mix 1 egg yolk with 1 teaspoon water and food color.
Brush onto cookies and top with sprinkles.
Bake 8 minutes until set. Makes about 6 dozen cookies.
